Portrait of Noel Gallagher lighting a cigarette – Oasis
Noel Gallagher was the pivotal figure in the formation and success of Oasis. He not only founded the band but also became its primary songwriter, shaping its distinctive sound and direction. While his younger brother, Liam, provided the band’s raw energy and frontman charisma, Noel’s role as a guitarist, lyricist, and musical architect was central to the band’s identity.
Noel joined the band in 1991 after hearing about Oasis (then called “The Rain”) through his brother Liam. At the time, the band had little direction or structure, but Noel brought with him a wealth of musical ideas, a strong vision, and an undeniable confidence in his abilities. He quickly took control of the band’s creative process, writing the majority of their early songs, including future classics like “Live Forever,” “Supersonic,” and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star.”
